The Pectra hard fork incorporates 11 major upgrades, including EIP-7691, which aims to increase the data capacity per block. Currently, Ethereum's mainnet handles an average of 3 blobs per block, with a maximum of 6 during peak demand. With EIP-7691, these figures will rise to an average of 6 blobs and a maximum of 9. This enhancement allows for more transaction data and proofs from layer-2 networks to be processed on the Ethereum mainnet. The Pectra upgrade is set to launch on the mainnet on April 8.
