$KAS crescendo - The 10 BPS Hardfork 🎶 The moment we have all been waiting for has finally arrived. Kaspa goes 10 BPS - 6000 times faster than BTC ⚡️ This thread will cover everything you need to know about how and when this change will take place. Lets get right into it 👇 First of all, shoutout to the amazing @MichaelSuttonIL, @DesheShai and @coderofstuff_ and the rest of the team for making this possible. But now, lets get dive into all the details. 🛣️ The Roadmap: Kaspa currently runs in 1 BPS (block per second). After the successful deployment of the Rusty Kaspa node software and its adoption by Kaspas mining community, the network is now ready for the big 10 BPS upgrade. Here is how it will happen: Launch & Stabilize: 🏁 🔹testnet launch with desired block rate and related network settings 🔹work on stabilizing said testnet Status: complete ✅ (TN11 testnet, functional since 01/24) Identify Bottlenecks: 🍼 🔹iteratively identify processing bottlenecks 🔹optimize performance 🔹lower hardware specifications required for running a node Status: complete ✅ Iterative improvement: 🔧 🔹repeat steps above until the minimal specs are affordable enough to satisfy the decentralization required for the mainnet 🔹computing GHOSTDAG on higher levels only on-demand while creating a pruning proof 🔹parallel input validation 🔹upgrading the KIP9 formula on TN11 to its final form 🔹implementation of KIP10, compounding addresses, allowing microtransactions with KIP9 🔹improved logic for transaction sampling while building block templates Status: in progress ⚙️ Date: Oct/Nov 2024 Enhanced user experience: 👨‍💼 🔹perfect the node software 🔹to the level of user experience required by mainnet operators Status: not done ❌ Date: Nov/Dec 2024 Additional features: ✨ 🔹implement any additional hardfork feature 🔹deploy them on TN11 🔹improvements of finality rules and new node headers-proof validation process (KIP7, KIP8) 🔹cryptographic receipts (KIP6) 🔹enabling transaction payloads, which will streamline specifications such as KRC-20 Status: not done ❌ Date: Dec/Jan 2024/25 Feature freeze: 🥶 🔹no new features or changes are allowed to be added to the codebase Status: not done ❌ Hardfork version: 🍴 🔹implement the hardfork transitioning version Status: not done ❌ Deploy transition testnet: 🔀 🔹deploy the transition version on TN10 (1 BPS testnet) 🔹to simulate the mainnet transition Status: not done ❌ Mainnet deployment: 🥂 🔹hardfork transitioning activated 1–2 months later It should be noted that this plan is tentative for now, so any changes in the timeline are to be expected. ➡️Personal Summary 🗣️ Kaspa already was the fastest chain there is with 1 BPS. So soon we are gonna be 10x the fastest chain I guess 😅 In all seriousness tho, being 6000x faster than bitcoin is insane, and thats by far not the only advantage @KaspaCurrency has over Bitcoin. Sometime during these updates I just sit back and think how far we have come from when I first bought Kaspa at $0.004...
