Virgin Voyages offers $120K annual pass with Bitcoin payments
Virgin Voyages has launched an innovative Annual Pass that allows customers to pay for cruises using Bitcoin (CRYPTO:BTC), marking a significant development in the cruise industry.
This pass provides unlimited travel across Virgin Voyages’ fleet, which includes four ships and the upcoming Brilliant Lady, set to debut in September 2025.
Angela Palmer from Virgin Voyages noted that pass holders can visit various destinations, including the Caribbean, Europe, and Alaska, while enjoying accommodations in Sea Terrace cabins with private balconies.
Priced at $120,000 plus taxes and fees, the pass comes with several perks such as priority boarding, unlimited premium Wi-Fi, concierge services, complimentary laundry, and access to exclusive onboard events.
A distinctive feature of the Annual Pass is its flexibility, allowing holders to bring a travel companion and swap them throughout the year.
Palmer emphasised the importance of accepting bitcoin as a payment option, highlighting Virgin Voyages’ commitment to adapting to modern payment trends.
Eleonor Genova, head of communications at Nexo, commented on this development, stating that “the line between traditional finance and crypto continues to blur as digital assets move firmly into the mainstream.”
Genova added that Virgin Voyages’ decision to accept bitcoin reflects a broader trend among brands adapting to changing consumer demands.
“The integration of crypto into luxury financial solutions isn’t a fleeting trend—it’s the next chapter in high-end consumer experiences,” she remarked.
Richard Branson, founder of Virgin Group, emphasized the transformative potential of travel with this offering, stating that it provides “unlimited opportunities for adventure in a way that has never been done in cruising before.”
The Annual Pass is available for purchase until March 31, 2025, with activation dates set between January and April of that year.
At the time of reporting, the Bitcoin (BTC) price was $95,652.14.
