Google requests appellate court to overturn the victory verdict of Epic Games in antitrust case
According to Cointelegraph, Google has asked the appellate court to overturn Epic Games' antitrust case victory. This ruling would force Google to allow third-party app stores and payment solutions through its application market, Play Store. The lower court's decision was supposed to permit other payment systems (including those supporting cryptocurrencies) access into Google's app store and applications. In a document submitted to the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals on November 27th, Google argued that the California federal court judge's ruling will directly undermine its efforts in competing with Apple and iPhone. "The judge should have realized that there is competition between Google and Apple in the smartphone field, and should have referred to the judgment in Epic v. Apple case where it was determined that Apple did not violate antitrust laws."
